Vintage Seaforth Highlanders Feather Bonnet. Circa 1950's-60's. The Seaforth Highlanders (Ross–shire Buffs, The Duke of Albany's) was a historic Regiment of the British Army formed in 1881. The Regiment was associated with large areas of the northern Highlands of Scotland. After several mergers, the Seaforth Highlanders are now incorporated in the Highlanders (Seaforth, Gordons and Camerons) Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland. This is an excellent original Feather Bonnet of the Seaforth Highlanders. It is undamaged and clean with rich deep pile body and four 'tails' to the right side. The rear has 3 black ribbon tails. The left side is fitted with it's original white feather plume and black silk patch mounted with Regimental metal 'Stags Head' badge with scroll bearing the Regiment's motto 'Cuidich 'n Righ' (Aid the King). The rear of the badge has the correct lugs and split pin. It has a broad headband of red & white chequered wool. The bonnet is complete with leather sweatband, liner with draw string and chin strap all in good clean condition. Bonnet also comes with its original box ! Marked size 7 1/8. This is a fantastic bit of Scottish Military History! Will look great in any collection and makes an eye catching display piece!
