Medium Gunn Ancient Weight Tartan. Caithness and Sutherland was the home of the Gunns, for whom a Norse origin is claimed. They were frequently engaged in clan warfare and did battle with the Keiths, MacKays and Sutherlands. In an effort to settle their dispute with the Keiths, a meeting was arranged in 1464 between both clans, but the Keiths treacherously attacked the Gunns and slew the chief.
